How to read it
Making sense of what you see
- Each dot is a satellite heat detection, not a confirmed wildfire — cleared burns, flares, and hot industrial sites also show up.
- Detections are typically a few hours old. This is not a real-time evacuation tool.
- Set the time filter to 24 hours to see current activity; widen it to see how a fire has moved.
- Cloud cover blocks detection, so an empty area is not proof there is no fire.
- For evacuation orders and official incident information, always use your county emergency management or state fire agency.
